What is Shropcamp?
Shropcamp is a conference bringing together people working to deliver public services at a local level across Shropshire, Staffordshire and the UK.
It is part of the family of localgovcamps taking place across the UK.
We particularly want to look at how service providers (police, health service, councils, social enterprises and charities) can use open data and social media to deliver better services together.
And we’ll probably want to talk about the rural dimension to all this.
What can I expect?
A buffet lunch will be available from 12:00 and ShropCamp will kick off at 13:00.
The event will be run in unconference format which means that we will decide the agenda on the day based on what workshops people want to attend (and to run). This sounds a bit crazy but it actually means that you will be attending workshops are on subjects that generally interest you.
If you might want to offer a workshop, that's great. You might want to tell everyone what you're thinking about offering over at the ukgovcamp site to see if a bunch of you want to offer something jointly.
There is excellent wifi on-site and you can expect people to be tweeting, blogging and flickring at the event.
If you're new to the twittering/blogging world we hope to be able to provide some support to get you started prior to the event. Keep an eye on shropcamp.tumblr.com for more news on that score.
How do I get there?
By road we're afraid. Public transport links are poor. You could catch a train to Telford Central and take a 20 minute taxi ride (or Stafford and a bit longer in a taxi). More detail is available over at the Harper Adams website.
